About the Dunes Commemorative Poker Chip Line

Our Dunes poker chip line represents an attractive mid-range poker chip that is well suited towards value-conscious consumers. These work great as a starter set for customers that aren’t quite ready to drop $500-$600 on a set of true casino-quality chips such as our Protege, Paulson Noir, or Archetype lines.

The foundation for the Dunes poker chip is a 3-color chip that looks surprisingly close to what a compression-molded clay chip looks like. While they are a little slicker than true casino chips, they have a textured surface that is much better at keeping stacks than the vast majority of mid-range and low-end chips on the market. The two-layer colorful inlays are high-resolution commemorative versions of the original Dunes Casino chips from that Las Vegas landmark. The line comes in 10 denominations, from 25 cent thru $25,000.. The combination of the economical base and the two-layer inlay (reminiscent of what you’d find on our true casino lines) makes for good quality, denominated chips that can be offered at a value-conscious price.

These chips are not clay or “clay composite”, as no inexpensive poker chips are, no matter what anyone tells you. All inexpensive poker chips are injection molded and it’s physically impossible to injection mold clay. They’re all some kind of plastic composite, and are typically made in China.

Great value - A solid mid-range chip at a price that's comparable to most low-end chips on the market.

Clay chip look - This chip line looks remarkably close to a compression-molded clay chip - the edge spots are intentionally made non-standardized to emulate real clay chips. .

Good sound when splashing the pot - The biggest complaint poker players have with virtually all low-end chips is the cheap metallic "pling" sound they hear when rifling thru chips or splashing the pot. These chips don't have a metal insert, yet still maintain a weight around 10 grams and sound very close to a real casino chip.

Throwback commemorative inlay design - The original Dunes Casino chips are among the most sought after chips in the collector market.

Technical Specs:

Chip Weight - 10 Grams

Chip Diameter - 40mm. This is slightly non-standard as all low-end chips are. Standard casino chip diameter is 39mm. Nonetheless, these will fit in all our racks and casino cases just fine.

Chip Construction - Injection-molded plastic composite.

Inlay Construction - Dual layer, full-color graphic inlays. Highly durable.

Classy plastic chips February 11, 2008
Reviewer: Mathew Rocca from Asheville, NC United States
These things put just about every other plastic chip i've ever touched to shame. The sound of them splashing is very nice, not clinky like plastic but far more subdued sounding then clay. They stack fairly well considering how poorly most plastic chips stack, They are still a bit slippery. Last but not least they just look really nice. I would recommend these chips to anyone who wants out of the standard 13gram plastic chips but doesnt have the cash to pony up for clay
